Concept
Being a specialized piece of machinery, it's hard for a "fry outsider" to understand how the waffle fry slicing contraption actually works. To make things even harder to visualize, the entire process is hidden behind solid metal.
So how does it work? Potatoes fall through a funnel into the machine as it spins. The rotation pushes the potatoes into cylinders that guide the potatoes towards wavy-edged blades. As the potatoes are sliced once by the blade, they are rotated 90 degrees to be sliced again and again, creating the iconic waffle-cut.
Using illustrative elements, I aimed to create a visually-friendly and legible diagram, that adhered to Lamb Weston brand guidelines.
